Review of the Week: Swiss Hotel bed and breakfast in Ottawa, Ontario in Canada

July 29, 2011 11:15 by Emily

Swiss Hotel is an adults-only, European-style inn located in the historic heart of Ottawa, Canada. It is within walking distance of shopping streets, museums, and historic sights. It is also very close to the Ottawa Convention Center.

The inn was built in 1872 from limestone in a 19th Century Vernacular Classical Revival. However, it has been totally renovated, and each room is decorated in a very modern style. All guest rooms have eco-friendly private baths, free Wi-Fi, and an Apple iPad.

This review is from a stay in February 2011 and gave the inn a perfect rating:

"Best Inn in Ottawa"
This is an absolutely wonderful inn that will enhance your experience in Ottawa. There's nothing better than to be out all day touring Ottawa, whether you want to skate on the Rideau Canal in the winter (which is within a very short walking distance) or shop the Byward Market; coming back to a place which is comfortable and homey is the ultimate experience. I've been coming here since Swiss Inn was called Gasthaus Switzerland. Same hosts Josef and Sabina are always most gracious and make you feel so very welcome. The rooms are extremely clean. The bed comfortable (they just renovated in 2010 so the rooms are new). I love the decor...modern but very warm and inviting. An optional breakfast is served in the morning with all sorts of healthy choices. Try the Swiss Muesli -- delicious! All in all, I highly recommend staying here on your next trip to Ottawa. I assure you, you won't be disappointed.

Review of the Week: Abbeymoore Manor Bed & Breakfast in Victoria, British Columbia

June 8, 2011 15:13 by Emily

Abbeymoore Manor Bed & Breakfast is located in the historic Rockland district of Victoria, British Columbia in Canada. It's a period mansion built in 1912 in "Old Victoria," and it's only four blocks to the ocean and a five-minute drive to downtown Victoria's many attractions. They serve a fresh, hot breakfast and can accommodate any type of special diet.

This perfect review was left for a stay in May 2011:

"Absolute Best Stay in Victoria"
We had the great pleasure to stay at the Abbeymoore Manor B&B earlier this month for a truly delightful three-night stay. The inn is beautiful with five original rooms on the second floor and four rooms in the lower level arranged as appartments. The neighborhood in Victoria is outstanding with beautiful homes arranged in an idyllic setting. Just across the street is the Queens residence which has 36 acres of gardens open free to the public. A short four block walk takes you to Craigdarroch Castle which is a must see for a small fee. Now to the innkeepers Anne and Ian. Simply put, the best. They made absolutely certain that every facet of our vacation was properly cared for and selected the best tour for whale watching and top shelf restaurants for daily night out dining. Ian in his own right is an excellent chef and his breakfasts were outstanding. Ian is a gregarious host and willing to help at every turn. He and Anne will make certain that your vacation needs are well taken care of. We will be coming back when we return to Victoria.

Now that the weather is warming up, it's time to get outside and enjoy the water! Lockehaven Waterfront Bed and Breakfast, only 25 minutes from downtown Vancouver, is the perfect place to go. Its two large suites feature huge decks that have 180-degree views of a harbor and coastal mountains. While it's a wonderful place for a romantic getaway, it's also well-suited to business travelers, as both suites have kitchenettes and office areas with computers, WiFi, and dedicated telephone lines. This photo is of view from the Otter Suite Deck.
