Review of the Week: A Seafaring Maiden in Nova Scotia

December 21, 2012 16:59 by Emily

A Seafaring Maiden is a historic B&B in Granville Ferry, Nova Scotia. The Canada B&B was originally built in 1881, and its small village overlooks the town of Annapolis Royal. Following is a guest review of their fantastic stay at the inn.

Guests can play the organ or piano in the music room, curl up with a good book in the reading corner, or relax in the Gentleman's Parlour. The three comfortable bedrooms have modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs with DVD players.

"Nova Scotia's Best"
Simply the best B&B in Nova Scotia. Leagues ahead of all the competition, even those double the price. Bill and Anne-Marie [the innkeepers] obviously love the business, as from the moment we arrived to walking us out to our car, we felt at home. Great local advice, fabulous rooms and décor, and our breakfast was a treat of harvest apple crumble and pancakes to die for. Don't travel to Nova Scotia without a stay at A Seafaring Maiden.

Review of the Week: Queen Anne Inn in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia

January 11, 2012 11:55 by Emily

The Queen Anne Inn is an elegant bed and breakfast located in historic Annapolis Royal in Nova Scotia, Canada. It's only minutes to the town's center, and it is close to Fort Anne, Kejimkujik National Park, and whale watching. All guest rooms have private bathrooms, robes, and feather beds.

The following is a perfect review left for a stay in August 2011.

"Wonderful Place"
My wife and I recently spent 2 nights at The Queen Anne Inn and had a wonderful time. Not only is the property charming, but Greg and Julie were enjoyable, wonderful hosts, and made us feel welcomed. We had never been to Annapolis Royal and they were informative in providing suggestions for restaurants, attractions, and offered the inn and library to read and relax. During our stay we noticed that they mingled with other guests as well and offered the same hospitality. During one of our early evening hours, my wife and I decided to spend some time in the inn’s parlor. A number of other couples also joined us and in no time several hours passed. Our room (number 8) was the right size, well furnished, and had a large bathroom. The room was as nice as the pictures on the website. As a matter of fact, the entire house and property were reflective of the photographs. There have been a few times during our travels where the websites embellish the property and overstate. You won’t have this disappointment at The Queen Anne Inn.

My wife and I stayed at several inns while we toured other Nova Scotia destinations. By far, The Queen Anne Inn helped to make our visit to Annapolis Royal a success. Greg, by the way, is also the chef and his breakfasts were sensational. Julie was delightful and cheerfully brought our breakfast. Our only regret was that the kitchen was closed for dinner. I guess they need away-time to recharge their batteries. On our flight home we talked about a return trip and we’d like to consider staying at the inn for a number of days and use it as a home-base for taking day trips. If you want a memorable stay in a town that is quaint and full of history, staying at the inn is a must. I’m confident you will remember your holiday long after as one of the best.
