April 6, 2012 23:58 by Emily

Sleeping Bulldog Bed and Breakfast in Seattle, Washington, is one of our newer Diamond Collection members. It is located near downtown and the sports stadiums, and it offers incredible views of the city. Pictured below is the B&B's lovely dining room, which has great views.

The inn has an overall perfect rating on BedandBreakfast.com. Here is a perfectly-rated review from a traveler who stayed here in December.

There's Nothing Halfway at Sleeping Bulldog!
"WOW" was the repeated response as we spent our anniversary at the Sleeping Bulldog B&B. The rooms were creatively decorated, beyond comfortable and exceedingly clean. It felt like home away from home. The breakfasts are prepared with joy and passion and we felt that. The little extras added to the fun of staying here: "wow!" at the snacks available; "wow!" at the Tempurpedic king bed with ultra soft sheets; "wow! wow wow!" at the view from our room (New Orleans Room). The owners are so friendly and full of suggestions for dining and entertainment. We didn't want to leave. Thank you [innkeepers] Korby and Randal! We'll be back!

Recipe of the Week: Homemade Turkey Sausage

March 27, 2012 00:39 by Emily

Not sure what's in your sausage? Make your own! The following recipe for homemade turkey sausage comes from Reynolds Mansion B&B in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. The three-story historic mansion has six spacious guest rooms. It has an overall perfect rating on BedandBreakfast.com.

Servings: 16
Prep time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 package ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt

Steps:
1. Cut 4-inch squares of wax paper - approximately 16 squares

2. Mix all ingredients together very thoroughly by hand. Roll mixture into approximately 2-inch balls. Place each ball in the center of a wax paper square. Cover the ball with another piece of wax paper and flatten into a patty. Stack the patties 4 high and be sure to cover the top patty with wax paper square.

3. Put the patties in a resealable freezer bag and freeze.

4. To cook: Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Place over medium-high heat. Unwrap frozen patties (no need to thaw) and place in skillet. Cook patties 6 minutes on each side until no longer pink inside. (Do not overcook or they will be dry).

5. Serve with multigrain muffin, egg whites, and fat-free American cheese for a healthy egg sandwich.

Hoyt House Bed & Breakfast Inn in Amelia Island, FL is a Diamond Collection member with an overall perfect rating on BedandBreakfast.com. It is located in the heart of the historic district, within walking distance of plentiful restaurants and shops.

The inn offers amenities such as a heated pool and spa, a full English pub and martini bar, and a three-course gourmet breakfast using organic and farmer's market ingredients. You can add on dinner in their private dining room. Originally built in 1905, this restored inn has 10 spacious guest rooms.

The following perfectly-rated review was left for a stay earlier this month.

"Exceptional hospitality, incredibily delicious breakfast"
If you want to truly EXPERIENCE Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island, Hoyt House B&B is a MUST. To the first point of contact, to our final goodbye's, Myrta and Deborah, the innkeepers, went above and beyond to make us feel special and cared for. The 3-course breakfast was beyond anything I have ever experienced, and I travelled the world for a living. The comfort of the beds and the appointments of the rooms is more than you would expect at any 5-star resort. This was not just an ordinary vacation, this was a treasured memory that I will share with anyone that asks. Thank you Myrta and Deborah, I will be back.
