Decorating Ideas from Innkeepers: Part I - Advice from Chesterfield Inn

December 14, 2009 18:36 by Marti

This is the first in a series of articles about holiday decorating tips from innkeepers. Longtime harbingers of hospitality, no one knows better how to decorate for the holidays than New England's innkeepers.  I asked a number of BedandBreakfast.com Diamond Collection members their secrets for the perfect holiday decorations.  This story starts the first in a series of decorating tips and stories from talented innkeepers throughout the country.

From Judy Hueber at the Chesterfield Inn

"When I'm decorating the Inn for Christmas, I try to use as many natural things as I can. Of course, we use real Christmas trees, cut from a local tree farm. There is always a bowl of fresh holly with lots of berries on the coffee table, tied with a bow. I gather pine cones from under the pine trees in the side yard, and then put them into an arrangement of evergreen branches cut from our 5 different varieties of evergreens in the yard. I gather winterberries from a neighbor's property for a splash of red with the evergreens."

Easily within a one-tank drive from anywhere in New England, steal away to the Chesterfield Inn this winter for a getaway filled with fresh greens and local fare.  Your trip will be highlighted by fine dining, beautifully decorated guest rooms and the promise of a relaxing, stress free vacation.
