October 4, 2011 15:38 by Emily

This easy and healthy recipe comes from Lathrop House B&B, located in Springfield, MA. The inn is an 1899 Victorian mansion whose breakfast specialty is fresh, exotic fruit. The innkeepers say this recipe keeps for days.

Fruit Compote Extraordinaire

Prep time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Dried fruits, primarily prunes and apricots

Steps:

1. Place dried plums (prunes) and any other dried fruit you like such as apples, peaches, or cranberries in saucepan with just enough water to cover. Add five cloves and a cinnamon stick if you like.
2. Simmer until soft, but not falling apart. If you have time, there is no need even to cook--just set it aside for 12 hours.
3. Serve with whole-milk yoghurt, unflavored, or whipped cream if you can. Voila! Your marvelous, healthy offering is done.
